  Tip of the Week: Keep your Computer Up-to-date with the Latest Fixes from Microsoft

Windows XP includes a feature that can ensure you always have the latest updates and patches from Microsoft. This is particularly important, since Microsoft is often releasing updates which fix security holes in the operating system and in Internet Explorer. To turn this feature on, open the System control panel and click on Automatic Updates. Then, choose the automatic update option that works best for you. You can have Windows automatically download and install updates, download the updates but install them at a time of your choosing, or simply notify you when updates need to be downloaded.

One thing to remember is that once an update is installed you may need to reboot your computer to finish the installation. Also, as an update is installing your computer will usually slow down noticeably. So, make sure to plan your updates in a way that least interferes with your work.
